The medical field will continue to be an area to watch in the 3D printing space as we move forward, that's a given. A new research report from Virginia-based SmarTech Markets Publishing -- '3D Printing in Medical Markets 2015: An Opportunity Analysis and Ten-Year Forecast' -- has taken a look at specific forecasts for the future of medical-related 3D printing over the next decade with a focus on materials and hardware. Some highlights of the forecasts include that the number of printers shipped annually for medical use will double through 2020, reaching about 2,200 that year; revenues for medical 3D printing materials will nearly septuple to $345 million in 2020; China will gain strength in 3D printing, with the overall Asia Pacific region accounting for about $95 million in revenue in 2020. 3d printers are especially widening their use in medicine. I think that by 2020, 3d printers will become more sophisticated and more powerful not just for applications in medicine, but for every other industry.
