Hi,
I need help choosing between Tevo Tornado and the TronXY X5SA. Both are the same price. I do get that the Tronxy needs more heat, and some upgraded printed parts...pulleys, straps, but I do like the design better. But, obviously, the print quality is important.

well the tronxy should be better quality - though there are so many things that's dependant on - you can't really say. the so called 'salmon skin' is neither here nor there. doesn't usually effect prints and looks fine to me. It's just something else for whingers to whinge about.
Dual z screws, the filament holder needs to be moved to the top of the frame. Looks easy to level the bed.
I'd probably go for the tronxy - as long as it had a heated bed. That's crucial.

filament run out is something that's never happened to me in over 6 years 3d printing. Even with two achines where you can't see the filament.
Check you have enough before you start. It;s as simple as that.
Auto levelling - if easy, is good.
But you still have to physically level the bed as well.
Can't see any reference to software. Presumably that's the slicer - which you can try different ones till you find one you like.
I can't stand cura - personally. But lots of people make it work :-)

I noteiced the layer thickness of the X5SA is .1mm and the Tornado has .05mm, is that a deal breaker?

it's unlikely you will ever print at 0.05mm on an fdm machine.
Plus they're pretty much guessing anyway :-)
Most printers are 'technically' capable of 0.05 layers. They are all using the same motors. Stepper drivers make a difference, but the hardware is usually - technically - capable.
0.1 is doable, and as low as you're ever likely to want to go :-)
I have ordered the X5SA, I had to do it fast because it's a chrismas gift for my son...at least that's what he thinks :p.

Haven't really tried it yet, I'm missing a piece of the extruder. Although I did modify the extruder to work temporarily, there is always filament bleeding through the nozzle...eventhough none is being fed. I haven't had much time. I'm still trying to figure out why the filament is leaking, there must be pressure in the tube. I'm letting it heat now to see how much filament will bleed before it stops.

when you heat up filament it expands.
So, when heating up the extruder you will almost always get some filament coming out.
All you do is wait till the printer starts to print and remove it.

Now my problem is(I think) that my nozzle is too high(pictures above) . I'm having trouble setting the hight of the autoleveling probe relative to the nozzle. My first tries adjusting the probe made my hotend dig into my printing surface. When I lower the probe it becomes lower than my hotend, it then sweeps up whatever I'm printing.
I have dumb question, with what do you remove it? I used a small screwdriver and smeared the PLA all over the hotend...Quote:

What I do is just before I hit the print button, when the printer is at teemperature, i extrude some filament. Then I hit the print button. As the print head is moving into position, I grab the cooled off filament with my fingers. Easy Peazy.Quote:

Yeah, but my fingers(hands) don't fit between the hotend and bed. Until I figure something out I just print or skirt, that gets rid of the excess filament. I tried with a cute tip...that was a mistake lolQuote:
