Kora Alpha 3D Printer - Built and Designed in Great Britain

A company called Kora has just announced their new 3D printer, the Kora Alpha. It is an FDM printer which a large build ratio. It seems like it will be a quality machine, based on it's specs, but they haven't yet released any photos of it or much more than a promotional video, showing it in action. It will be priced at $1895 (although their website lists the price as both 1,895 British Pounds, as well as 1,895 USD. The mechanicals look interesting, nice looking Ultimaker style mechanism.

I question the use of an E3D without the barrel cooling fan & duct.

Thanks for your constructive comments on the KORA alpha - which we note.

Apologies for the 'teaser' video - our video editors are working 24/7 to bring you the final cut - which will be nice to watch (I hope!) very soon.

The E3D in the video is the V5 and we've now finished our testing on V6 and the final product will be supplied with V6 - but our own replacement of E3D barrel cooling fan & duct has been extensively tested on our machine with E3D consultation and all is 100%. The new cooling fan sits immediately behind the E3D head exchanger just like the original E3D clip-on. However, for those who prefer to stay within known boundaries - the KORA alpha VariBLOCK will allow you to fit the original E3D barrel cooling fan & duct if you prefer - this is just one aspect in the 'flexibility' and user customisation opportunities the KORA alpha offers.

We at KORA have a very 'open' attitude towards developing this product - we have no fear in admitting many very clever and innovative 3D printer users have far more knowledge and experience that we do (well a little bit more anyway! LOL) and we intend to ACTIVELY encourage criticism and suggested improvements / upgrades to our product(s).

We want the KORA alpha to not only be a fantastic 'out of the box' 3D printer - for those who just want a great experience of printing by FFF - but also a fully user customisable product - a 'development platform' - that encourages changes, modifications and improvements by the end users. This encouragement to modify will be reflected in our flexible warranty terms, which unlike other leading manufacturers that state ' any modifications to the product will invalidate your warranty' - with KORA - this will not be the case!

Imagine you have some ideas about developing a new 'hot-end' product - but during that development you need to make some 3D prints for brackets, mountings, clamps etc. With the KORA alpha you can! - leave the E3D hot-end on the left hand clamp of our VariBLOCK and develop your new hot-end ideas on the right hand clamp of the VariBLOCK - that way, during your development, if you need a 3D print - revert to the left hand hot-end and make the print - then back to the right hand to continue your development.

We have sooo many ideas to help users take much more from this machine that just high end FFF 3D prints - which incidentally it is really very capable of - we see it as a development platform for future innovation.

IMO - that overly dramatic trailer was not necessary at all. It's a FDM printer not a race car...
