5th Gen come up short?

I'm looking at the makerbot models and it seems like they've made the 5th gen a more mass market friendly/appealing machine than the 2X. The interface, connectivity options, camera all seem like nice options... How does the printed objects performance compare?

The 5th generation seems to be lacking the following, would you say this is detrimental and the 2x a better option
-dual extruders (if only needing one color or building assemblies, is the filler not required for PLA?)
-PLA vs ABS (debatable)

Is ABS really better for assemblies?
Does PLA really have issues with heat? (Sitting in a hot car)
