Are 3D Printed Fuselages on their Way?

Dutch firm Constellium and their partners STELIA Aerospace and CT INGENIERIE, have formed an initiative to engage in a research and development project called FAST which will focus on topological optimization for aeronautics structures and additive manufacturing processes. The companies say FAST will seek to optimize design and technologies to make large aerospace structures and parts more efficiently, such as fuselages.
