Replicating a 6th Century Sword Via 3d Printing

3D printing technology made it possible for Norwegian maker, Nils Anderssen, to create a remarkably accurate replica of a 6th-century bronze sword. The sword, known as “Snartemo Sword,” was crafted in an area in Southern Norway during a kind of cultural renaissance that was the result of increased migration into Scandinavia from the south. Anderssen pays homage to that period of heightened technology innovation by reproducing the beautiful crafted original to be displayed as a pair in an exhibition at the National Museum of Art in Oslo, Norway.
