WomBot Exilis Xl Firmware issues

So I got a problematic printer, a Wobot Exilis XL from a buddy who had given up on it. I thought that the board was fried so I bought a replacement MKS Gen 1.4 to replace it. I flashed the firmware onto the board, Arduino IDE indicated that it went fine, but when I plug it in nothing happens, the fans don't spin up, the LCDs don't come on, and there is no light on the board it indicates that it is active. I get the lights when I just have it hooked up to the USB, but with power I get nothing. I have tested the power supply and it is putting out 12.2 volts as it should. did I miss a step somewhere, or is there something else I need to do? The firmware was provided to me by the manufacturer.
