The Language of Making in Higher Ed

I've just written a post at linkedIn about the language of making in the context of higher education. It's a much more nuanced issue than I had previously thought, and I could really use some thoughtful input (I'm trying to come up with a different set of terms for maker, makerspace, etc.).

Nice article. I think part of the allure of a the term makerspace is that it can and does vary in specifics, but in general it is always a place for constructive skills sharing - usually physical skills, like fabricworking, woodworking, metalworking and electronics work, but can also include audio processing, computer coding and other ventures. By having a generally inclusive title, it allows the participants to have some ownership.
