3D WASH Uses 3D Printing to Clean up Plastic Waste and Provide Clean Water

There are a lot of issues in the world today revolving around water. All living things need it to survive, and it's getting harder to find in consumable form thanks to pollution and drought, as well as the poverty and isolation that prevent many communities around the world from being able to access proper sanitation. At Deakin University, a group of engineers have come up with an idea to attack two of those problems at the same time, with help from 3D printing. 3D WASH, currently raising money through a crowdfunding campaign, plans to turn plastic waste into filament, which will then be used to 3D print replacement parts for sanitation and plumbing equipment in developing communities.
