Best 3d printer for $300 - $400?

Hey guys,

I've been looking at 3d printers in this price range, I've seen ones like the fabrikator mini, mp maker select printer, mp select mini, and i'm sure there are plenty of choices that I don't know about. I just need to know what printer would be the best for me. I'm learning how to design my own prints, and I need a printer that can print in all/most materials (so it has a heated bed), and has a large print bed if possible, and of course fairly good quality of prints and not very problematic. Hmm, certainly a good deal - but has anyone ever seen a positive review for ANY xyz printer let alone the davinci ?

Actually seen some good reviews for the select mini as well. But obviously the 13860 maker (genuinely a wanhao) has larger build plate and huge support grouip.

Personally I am trying to get a GeeeTech MeCreator2 (eBay, trying to get some discount) - Fully assembled. It is in this price range, seems to have good reviews (seems to be a slightly smaller cased i3 - 160x160x1600mm build volume), apart from fan noise. But will work on that.

If you can do with small build volume 100x100x100, there is the small $200 Fabrikator 2, ready to run.

Considered both, both have an OK Wife Acceptance Factor, and decided for the MeCreator2. And I don't have to build myself.

I just got my Geeetech MeCreator 2.
Works fine. Little issues with eSun filament. Running at 220C, around 45-50mm/s. 0.1mm layer height. Running single shell tower at that setting I get a very strong bond, impossible to tear apart. But still more tuning to do.
I am happy, it was ready-to-run, comes in a nice metal enclosure. But fans are noisy, expecially PSU fan. As close as ready-to-run as you can expect.

I would second this. The Monoprice Maker Select/Wanhao Duplicator i3 (same printer, just different companies) is hands down the best printer under $400 right now. It can be assembled in less than 10 minutes, has a massive community and tons of information online. I run a blog with lots of guides for doing upgrades to it and it prints excellent out of the box, even better with some small mods.

I wouldn't force my worst enemy to use those garbage Davinci printers. There is a reason they were giving them away for free if you bought 10 rolls of filament from them. The choice to go proprietary was not taken very well by the 3D Printing community.

Hmmm, Why go cheap on a 3d printer? Save another 300 dollars and get a Prusa I3 MK2S Kit. They are great printers and compete with much higher priced printers on the market. Don't just take my word, check them out and the numerous reviews on them. Its an open source printer, so you could probably source out all the parts yourself and make it for the price range you suggested too.
