Slic3r 1.0.1 stable and 1.1.1 experimental are out!

Another update from Slic3r. 1.0.1 Stable and 1.1.1 Experimental have been released and can now be downloaded at their site.

They have taken care of a lot of the major and minor bugs in the past versions, so this is going to help a lot.

Here are the update details:

This is a bugfix-only release.

Improvements:

• support config files saved with 1.1.x

Bugfixes:

• sometimes a tiny gap was left between infill and perimeters
• Infill only where needed did not work properly anymore

Improvements:

• Faster loading/refreshing of presets (thanks sapir for the patch)
• Faster G-code export
• Preserve alignment of meshes when composing parts in the Object Editor
• Better gap fill

Changes:

• Always complete one island at time (perimeter -> infill -> next island -> perimeter -> infill) instead of doing that only when Avoid crossing perimeters is enabled. This leads to fewer travel moves, faster prints and is more consistent with what already happens when a print contains more copies and/or objects

Bug fixes:

• The Y coordinate of point config fields was not correctly validated
• Crash when setting number of extruders
• Crash when using multiple skirts with a single, non-zero, extruder
• Incomplete/sparse extrusion on solid surfaces
• The threads config option was not enabled anymore
• Command-line --scale and --retract-layer-change options were not working properly
• Presets were listed in random order
• Pillars support material crashed when no overhangs were detected
• Bridge angle detection was failing in many cases (thanks ledvinap for patches and debugging)
• Linux packages for 1.1.0 were broken
• Sometimes a tiny gap was left between infill and perimeters

• Avoid crossing perimeters was not considering some possible routes
• Default extruder was not applied to perimeter extruder
• [filament_preset] placeholder (and other *_preset) was not replaced in output filenames
• Crash when using concentric solid infill
• Input fields had focus issues on Windows

Known issues:

• An upstream bug in the Clipper library causes some random perimeter segments to be swapped in order (#1834)

Oh, cool. I tried 1.1.0 Experimental and I really like the new features, but this:

Incomplete/sparse extrusion on solid surfaces

Was a mayor bug and made it unusable for actual printing, I'll have to test this new release... when I get some time in my hands.

Version 1.1 has really good algorithms for support material. In general, I avoid support material if at all possible, but this release removes some of that anxiety.

Roxy, I've heard the same. I hear that it is awesome at creating your support material for you prior to printing. We need something like this. I'm glad that Slic3r is constantly upgrading. Seems like they just released their last upgrade only a few weeks ago.

I'm loving Slic3r 1.1.1 quite a bit. Haven't lots of fun and I like the updates.
