Klic N Print X-axis not stopping

I recently began having trouble with my Klic-N-Print 3d printer, where the x-axis motor isn't stopping when the extruder reaches the limit switch at the end of its usual x-axis travel. This ends up making a loud grinding noise that I assume is the gear attached to the motor grinding over the teeth in the belt. After grinding for a few to a few dozen seconds, it gets the signal to stop and either proceeds with the print or shuts down when a print is finished. One thing to note is that when the limit switch is pressed, the LED associated with the switch does turn on, even though the motor is continuing to run. I would have thought that this is would be a bad switch, but the LED activating with the action of the switch makes that seem less likely. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be the cause of this issue?
