Ender 5 stringing issue

New to 3D printers

Just got an Ender 5 (boden tube) and starting to learn about 3D printing. I'm having a terrible time with stringing. I've made all sorts of adjustments to retraction (distance/speed, etc) but continue to have bad stringing. I've tried multiple temps for the PLA (Eryone) I'm using with no significant benefit. I'm using cura for slicing. I've tried the CHEP profiles which made just a slight improvement. If I make the retraction distance too far (12 mm) I get poor extrusion but continue to have issues with stringing at the same time... Tried other things like z-hop and currently trying to increase the travel speed between extrusion, any other thoughts?
