University Engineers Make 3D Printed Maps For Visually Impaired Facility

3D printing has been of great help to the visually impaired community, as well as numerous others who are experiencing challenges. While we’ve seen a variety of 3D printed devices for the blind all over the world, in malls, universities, and their homes, a new project involving campus maps is going to make a big difference for students at the Joseph Kohn Training Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Engineering student Jason Kim and Howon Lee, assistant professor in Rutgers' Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, have created one 3D map for the students so far, but their goal is actually to have one for each student.
