Saw somewhere, may have been a HobbyKing flyer, or the 3dPrint newsfeed, that Hobby king is selling a printer for about $180. Anybody take a bite yet?

Should be fine if you want a non heated bed with a small print area. Great to learn the FDM technology.
AD? bro, hope forum won't charge. Same price I prefer iBox Nano, I can take it in my backpack to show all around, girls will love it!Still I'll mark yours.
He's trying to hijack your thread with a different printer that had nothing to do the mini Fabrikator. I have to full Fabrikator and hobby kind offers zero support. You can't even buy a replacement extruder from Hobby King.
I think it runs fine after it's setup correctly. My biggest issue was the z steps/mm was set wrong and I had issues for a month until I figured it out. Pretty easy to work on since it's a Mega 2560, ramps 1.4 setup. The nozzle is a low profile but it's not much work to replace it with a E3D V6.
My co workers didn't believe me when I told them I can print a 1 layer wall thickness tube and it will be water tight. It didn't leak with both PLA and ABS.
Sorry for the necro-thread, but I just experienced HobbyKings "after the sale support" and you are not kidding it's bad, I'm mean really bad. If anyone is thinking about buying the new 1.5 version beware. Mine is riddled with QA issues and you can forget about getting it fixed.
yeah but it's £127.
Did you really expect it to work :-)
Yes its a shame that there are some quality issues with their printers because without the issues the Mini Fabrikator would be outstanding!
We have a mini fabrikator which does work and works well (for the size/price) so if you're able to repair/replace parts yourself then the Mini Fab is a great option.
You mean the grub screw holding the aluminium pulley wheel to the motor? I can find out for you if you want? I have a feeling it requires a 0.9mm allen key but not sure
Yep that is the one, and YES I would love to know the size.:o It's hard to order the correct hex key without the size I'm finding. :p
For those keeping score, it appears the grub is .9mm hex.
I just got the new 1.5 version and have been printing away after an initial hickup.
Yes sorry for the delay,
Yes I can confirm it is a .9mm hex screw.
However, I have one of the first printers HobbyKing sold and HK are known for subtly changing parts in products.
Would anyone using this printer with S3D be willing to share there configuration file?
While I was trying to fix the problems with mine, I discovered the Y axis grub not tight either. Ay Caramba!!
3dex Ltd: I can confirm that Mine (v1.5) is .9 (the tool kit I ordered had hex bits from .7 to 3mm)
Chuck from youtube has a profile setting on his site. I haven't looked at it because I don't have s3d.
