Hello RepRap users! I would say I'm pretty new to the RepRap world but I've learned a ton since I first started this summer. I'm currently running the MakerFarm Prusa i3 with Bowden upgrade. Please post or drop me a PM if you have questions on anything tech or 3D design.
I also just started this summer, I went to a Workshop at the Voxel Factory to assemble my own Prusa Mendal I3. Hoping to share my own experience and problems with others.
Post away :)
Hello there,
I'm taking a look over here to see, if this forum is an interesting platform for RepRappers like me (I'm relatively new to RepRap though).
Building Quentin Harley's RepRap Morgan I support his project with drawings, publications and ideas.
I'll also build a filament extruder, so I can make my own filament out of pellets, making it only 1-2€/kg instead of 30€/kg. I'll also build a shredder for reuse of assorted plastic parts as filament, making plastic garbage a usable and interesting resource for me.
Hi,
I am a fairly new RepRapper (April 2013) but I have made a splash with RepRap Wally and RepRap Simpson. I have a lot of other projects and ideas but not enough time. I am currently trying to start a business where my brother-in-law takes care of the day to day and I get to do mad scientist stuff 24/7. I was asked to moderate here but I have no time to commit fully. However, I am going to keep an eye out.
@Robert Kuhlmann: I modeled the RepRap Morgan but got caught up in my own projects. I was hoping to make an awesome step by step guide for Quentin but I can see that he is in good hands. I did a quick run through of your links it is immediately apparent that you are a talented draftsman and designer. I look forward to seeing your future work.
Hello Fellow Reprap users,
I have been working with Repraps and other 3D printers for 2 years now and I built quite a few machines during this period. Recently I became a moderator here so I will do my best to help and participate. Currently I am working on a 3D printer / milling machine / laser engraver project it will be sort of a hybrid. I had quite a few sleepless nights due to Repraps in the past, I suppose I can get a bit to excited about awesome stuff.
Besides the 3D printing my other interests are electronics, robotics, chemistry, quantum physics, space exploration ... and football :)
That was a short introduction, if you are making something interesting or need help with a project you can send me a PM.

Started 3d printing about, wow 2 years already. Upgraded my H-1 with linear bearings(printed) and a bowden setup. Here to help too.
Hi all, new poster here. Pretty new to the Prusa i3 but having fun with it. We currently are printing with two we built. Built a RepRap back in 2010 but gave up on it after having problems getting it to print well. Also have a few Cupcakes and a Replicator XL.
Welcome everyone! Great to see this board grow by the day.
Hi my name is Chris kearsley and i recently built a prusa i3 from scratch by sourcing the parts and building it with the hardly any instruction as there wasn't as much info as there is now heres my progress ive been on the back seat for a few months but i mean to get back in full swing after xmas http://3dimtech.blogspot.co.uk/
Hello everyone, I've been building 3D printers for a long time now and I thought I might be able to help some of you out. I don't know everything of 3D printing and I like many of you, learn something new everyday. I will be helping to Moderate the site as well as help out wherever I can. I definitely can say that I specialize in Printrbot line-up but, I have designed and built many of my own RepRaps. So if you have any questions or need any help, I will do the best I can to get you printing.
Checking out the new forum. Was invited here by Ralph.
Currently building a Rostock Delta.
Hello my name is papabur and I just signed up with this forum today. I am 28 years old, attend college at P.C.C. here in Portland, Oregon and built my first Reprap 2 years ago...been a full blown addict since. :D My reprap is a Prusa Mendal and over time I have heavily modified her; here is a picture of it so far: http://i.imgur.com/OGbsjos.jpg
I found that by resupporting the Z axis, you can remove 2 of the threaded rods from the front which in return, opens up the print area and reduces cost. I have also extended all my wires and run them through a 12mm diam. hole near the bottom of the custom acrylic side panel. Before I did all this though I did a awesome upgrade on my Z axis threaded rods and switched out the standard 8mm rod with some 10mm Thompson threaded linear rod/bushings. I had to create a custom mount in order to get the 3 screw design of the Thompson bushings to attach to the original 2 screws design(thats the 2 yellow parts under the black Thompson bushings..).
To top it off I threw in some red L.E.D.'s to light up the under carriage and presto, my custom reprap. :) More to come and I look forward to sharing everything I plan to do with a good group of motivated individuals such as you guys! Thank you!
Hello, my name is Hung. I am living in Vietnam and founding RepRap Viet Nam for the user community here. In Vietnam we are trying to make RepRap more available for the people. At present I work to translate some RepRap document into Vietnamese. I joined this board because I want to learn more about RepRap and 3D printing as well. I was invited to be a moderator here at this forum. I hope I will be helpful.
Hung,
Welcome aboard! :)
BTW, I was born in 1991 so I am 22 years old now. Nice to make friends here. I will try to be active. Cheers
Hello my name is Creghton and I'm currently in the process of designing my own 3d printer, more details will probably be posted in these forums! I've been interested in robotics ever since I was 6, 3D printing has definitely got my interest!
Been a RepRapper for about 8 months now. So far I'm loving it. I live in Houston Texas, and not too many people here have even heard of 3D Printing. All of my buddies love coming over to use my RepRap and see my designs. I'm loving this forum so far.
On the kitched table, I love it... my wife hates when I do that lol
Hi! I'm Eddie, and I am a RepRap enthusiast. I finished my phase I build of a Kossel Mini delta bot about a month ago. Since then I've printed a couple keychains and christmas ornaments for my wife and set about planning my phase II rebuild. As sort of a capstone project for the build my wife and I designed this dog bed(http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:209726). The design goal for the rebuild is to allow the bot to be easily broken down to a flat pack for shipping as I will soon find myself RepRapping in Kandahar. Measures to accomplish this are to move all electronics within the base enclosure, mount the extruder to the base as well, modify the vertical carriages to include z-height adjustment, replace endstop mounts to accommodate this, and install biased connectors at the base of each tower to connect the endstop switch circuits. While I'm at it I plan to replace the end effector as I hacked the present one up pretty good trying to get the hot end to play nice with the z-probe and bowden clamp I cobbled together. That upgrade might as well include another four or six conductor connector to accommodate a future tooling quick-change as well as a fan.
I love my delta. It makes me extremely proud to watch it work and if I'm not careful I can lose hours "supervising" it. I'm very glad I decided to disregard the advice I read not to make my first RepRap a delta. It was a challenge trying to get it all together with little to no documentation, but not an insurmountable one. I tell my son often that nothing worth anything in life is easy. That said, I do plan to make my next bot a gantry or a-frame to allow for a heavier tooling or perhaps milling capabilities.
In any case, glad to be here and glad to be counted as a RepRap owner. Good hunting and if I can be of assistance please ask.
Best!
Edward
@jeffegg2
How's your Rostock build going? My Kossel is a derivative of yours, so perhaps I can be of assistance.
Best!

I am a professional Mechanical Engineer based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I'm new to 3D printing after finishing building a Prusa Mendel i2 based repstrap several weeks ago. The frame is welded together from 1/2" steel square bar so it is nice and rigid. I've had heaps of fun making several downloaded models and some parts of my own design. My greatest success to date was modelling and printing a couple of replacement parts for the water pump of a vintage car for a friend. They have now been successfully used as consumable patterns for investment castings in brass. Fantastic results. See my printer running on youtube. I am also dabbling with laser/webcam 3D scanning at the moment with encouraging results.
Hi all, my name is Dennis. I have building a prusa i3 from scratch for around 6 months in my spare time. I have had some issues, but am nearly ready to print. I have just started using this forum after a request from another board. Once finished, I plan on making some larger scale printers. I do however plan on building a delta printer as my next project, as originally I could not find the plastic kits needed. I plan on sharing my building experience with everyone, as I am a fan of open source. I hope to one day be able to use this to start a business making mostly science projects and perhaps assisting other members with their projects.
Greetings to all. Just joined after talking with a few folks over at the RepRap forums.
I'm new to the 3D/CNC machine world, but I have electronics and programming experience both professionally and as a hobby. Hope to learn a few things, and
maybe help someone along the way.
Jim
Hey everyone!
My name is Quentin Bowden. I built a Prusa i3 from Makerbot last month and am still tuning it so that I can start printing! I have been involved with 3D printing for a few months now and am looking forward to sharing my experiences with anyone looking for some help. I will see you all around the forum!
hello!
My names is Sam Parks. I have built a Rostock style printer which at this moment in time is still in the programming stages, i hope people on here will be able to help with some issues i'm having and in the future i will be able to help others too! its always great being part of a community with so much creativity so i look forward to being part of it.

Hi! My name is Dianne and I am a retired designer and active model engineer. My background is over 40 years in manufacturing, electrical/electronics, microelectronic design, and communications.
My current project is a 1" scale steam locomotive (from scratch) and I had reached the point where I needed patterns for the foundry for 7 cast iron parts (which I already had drafted in 2D CAD). Someone suggested having the patterns printed in 3D so I learned 3D drawing in SketchUp (and plan to learn 3D CAD) and bought a (EckerTech) RepRap kit. The kit arrived Monday and by Wednesday I had it finished. Thursday was learning Repetier-Host and getting the printer set up. After a few teething pains, I spent 11 hours on Friday printing 3D patterns. When I have resolved current problems with the hot end, there are a few more to do to finish the job.
Hi All ,
New to this 3d printy stuff and new here .. :)
Chris Is the name and can be found hiding in the UK , .. Retiring next year so going have plenty of time for fiddling..
Presently straing at a pile of bits from my Junk box and decidiing how to stick them together to form an Extruder for the Home brew Printer thats gradually taking form ..
Using a lot of inkjet/laser parts i've been gathering, but had to stick hand in pocket for the Arduino/ramps/Stepsticks. but all my stepper motors are working , Pity thay are all 7.5 degree :(..
But one is going inthe extruder ..
So look out for t lots of dumb questions from me ...
C..
PS .. Actually only got here because I got an Email out of the Blue from Someone calling himself 3dprintman, reckons he's been made Head moderator on here ?? :) , but he's not in the User list ??
Hello All,
Welcome on board. I have been designing my own breed of 3D printer based on the knowledge gained from Reprap, so Lets share and grow. Its really exciting.
Hi,
my name is Ralf and I´m based in the center of Vienna.
I was working with self made CNC milling machines before I started with Reprap last year. Right now I´m working with a Prusa i3XL and try to improve the design. For me it is important to be part of a community working on the same topic and have the possibility to contribute. Looking forward on many discussions on my favourite topic!
Hi,
my name is Manuel, I am living in germany with my wife and two children. I built a Prusa i3 with E3D Hotend in Dec 2013 and made some modifications to improve the print quality. I Like designing things with Solid Works epecially for my second hobby: RC Helicopter flying. My current projects:
- a small greenhouse for my children (a kit with many parts to put together). I´ll upload it to Thingiverse once I made the prototype
- a printed quadrocopter with open Wii FCB
- some custom purts for my T-Rex 700 gasser helicopter (reducing vibration of the boom support)
Since I do own a printer, I am looking for things to be repaired or improved. It is an awesome hobby!
Manu
Hello Everyone!
My name is Gerry and I'm just starting to learn 3D printing, anxiously awaiting an 8" Makerfarm Prusa i3v with Hexagon hotend in the next few days. I've been designing things to be 3d printed using an online service to make my prints but I'm very excited to learn and operate my own Reprap. I'm planning to use my 3d printer for product prototyping, video game handheld ergonomic prototyping and more!
I'm working on designing an ventilation enclosure for my i3v, and joined to share my design and progress here on the forum. If you're interested, check it out here: http://3dprintboard.com/showthread.p...-i3v-Enclosure
All the best!
Gerry
Hi,
My name is Andy and I live in Wales hence the moniker. I have only been 3d printing since just before Christmas this year. I bought (or got given as presents) all, except the plastic, parts for a Prusa I3. A friend had a Prusa Mendel I2 which he had bought as a kit but had not finished. I kept pestering him to finish it so he could print the plastic parts for me. He said if I wanted I could borrow his printer get it working and print my parts. It took me about three weeks, off and on, to iron out all the problems and get it working. I have had to give this printer back now but I have my I3 all assembled. I have just solved a problem with the Z axis so all the bits move as they should. Now "all !!" I have to do is go through the pain stage to get it all calibrated and printing.
Andy
Hello all
I am a 57 year old truck driver so I dont have a lot of time at home. A year and a half ago I bought a kit from eckertech.com, spent a week putting it together, got frustrated and put it on the shelf. About 6 months ago, I had some time so I pulled it back out and finally got it working so the learning started. I have been going nuts with it ever since. As with all machines, there were a lot of things I wanted to change (added a print cooler, fixed z-axis stop, plus multiple upgrades). I am currently almost finished with my 2nd ecksbot, this one incorporates all the upgrades I did on the first one and now the power supply is mounted on the back and it uses a smart lcd controller, it should be running in the next week. I am halfway through building a wilson machine made with misumi extrusions, and I have the frame assembled for a rostock prisma.
I have had a lot of fun and some disappointments along the way and will lurk here to help out whoever I can. Feel free to message me, but you may have to wait a few days until I return home for your answer. Happy reprapping.
And starting with a kit, you can learn the ropes with a minimum of frills and then incorporate the frills in your second machine. I think this second machine is a cadilac compared to the original volkswagon
Hi all!
Thanks for your story of your start as I RepRapper, DrLuigi. I use to recommend people interested in building a 3d-printer not only to buy a kit, but also to find and meet an experienced RepRapper in person. Both the know-how and the motivation gets a serious boost that way :)
I built my first Printrbot Plus march 2013. Been building since then. Ca 13 other RapRaps, kits, self-sourced ones, alone and together with others. Mendel, Huxley, Ormerod, Rostock Max, SmartRap. In the process of sourcing a Morgan and a self-designed one too.
The hardest thing I've done so far is starting and maintaining a 3d-print lab at Umeå University (our wiki). Hard because it meant convincing lots of smart people to invest their time. The printers there are running more or less every day now, printing equipment for the researchers (mostly physics, but others as well) and serving as an integrated part of an undergraduate course for the engineering physics students.
I love engineering, economy, politics, art, evolution, programming and to share with others, so I love the RepRap project. Exponential growth in the number of RepRaps is such a fascinating thought that I use it as a sort of ultimate goal of all my little projects. Eventually I will probably have to prioritize making some money from this hobby in order to be able to continue at the same pace :P
I'm thrilled to be here where people are already convinced that RepRap is worthwile, I should have come to be active here much earlier! I will help moderate this forum and hope it will produce lots of interesting discussions.
Glad to meet you. Read my blog, I will definitely read yours ;)
Hello everybody, my name is Brent.
Back in high school i developed a strong passion for manufacturing and decided to pursue an engineering degree. Directly out of high school I earned an AAS in Mechanical Engineering while working as a CNC machinist/programmer at a small local production shop. My interest in manufacturing quickly became strongly focused on the machines themselves, I just can't seem to learn enough. After about 6 years working with CNC machining equipment I obtained an engineering position at large healthcare equipment manufacturer and have been slowing working toward a bachelors degree. I couldn't imagine being in any other field.
I just recently got into the 3d printing hobby (not sure what took me so long). I built my first 3d printer (Mendel i2) about 2 months ago which was a blast and has continued to be.
Glad to meet everyone and look forward to future discussions.
Hello folks.
I got some background in electronics and programming, I've been building my own printer for last several months. I currently finished one of the devices and working on more advance one that will maximise the potential of the RepRap machine.
Hello everyone, my name is James. I am currently in the midst of my b.s./m.s. in nano engineering with a minor in business. My primary focus is the development of nanomaterials within the 3d printing world hopefully making them stronger, cconductive, etc. My main contribution to this reprap forum will be in the delta style 3D printer.
