3D Printer Paid For Itself for Quantel in 6 months time only

We all know that 3D printing can save a ton of money as well as time when dealing with rapid prototyping, especially when it's in-house. One television and film content creation company called Quantel believes that their Stratasys uPrint SE Plus 3D Printer which they purchased last year for protoyping, has paid for itself after just six months of use. Considering the printer runs for around $15,000, that is quite a remarkable statement by the company. Below is a picture of the Stratasys uPrint SE 3D Printers. Have any of you noticed the same type of payback for your business? This is a clear indication IMO how fast the market will continue to expand.

Thats also pretty good since i know someone who has this machine and according to them to load it with a roll of filament cost about $500

I have a uPrint SE, single color. Material cost is currently $205 for a 489 cm³. Comes out to about $0.5/cm3. Another consumable are the printing baseplates which are best used only once and cost about $5 each. So $535 (plus shipping) gets you about 489 cm³ of both support and ABS material and a box of bases. Not cheap but very reliable.

good god man 40 cm/3. thats smaller than a deck of cards. are you sure about that #? so to print out an iphone case at 100% infill cost you about 150 bucks?....that cant be right?

Any mid to large size company could buy a professional 3D printer (likely regardless of the cost / type) and have it pay for itself. To be honest 6 months kinda seems like a long time. With little effort your average person should be able to payback a standard desktop printer in a year.
