A possible fix if you lose communication between PC and Printer

Sometimes communication is lost between the PC and the printer. It can mean that the various drivers required to operate the system have failed to load or otherwise link up as required when the PC was started.

A possible fix for this problem is to:

1. Shut down the computer as usual from the desktop. (This causes the operating system to send a shut down signal to all the various components the make a computer work)
2. Turn off the power to the computer from the supply point (the wall plug)
3. Wait for about a minute, then turn on the power at the wall plug
4. Boot the computer using its <Start> button.

What this power off/power on sequence does is to make the computer think that it has just come out of the box, so it has to activate each port and card and look for connected devices. This can cause drivers which had not loaded before, load, and that could solve the communication problem.
