Bre Pettis Stepping down as MakerBot CEO?

According to an anonymous tip, there will be changes at MakerBot. Pettis will be moving over to something called the "Innovation Workshop", while Jenny Lawton will become MakerBot CEO. All the details at: http://3dprint.com/14012/makerbot-ceo-bre-pettis/

Yikes! Just noticed this. Wow, that's some stunning news. Yet it isn't uncommon for the entrepreneur who started a company and then sold it, to eventually step aside as the company grows and becomes all "corporate".

Lawton is a good pick IMO

Thanks for getting and publishing that interview.

While on one hand she says that

From a customer viewpoint, it certainly does not seem that way, and here's why:

(1) Change in paradigm to forcing customers to purchase Makercare to get support
(2) Forcing customers to only use Makerbot PLA on the 5th Gen machines or else void any warrantee
(3) Designing a machine that can no longer use a variety of materials as the Rep 2 could
(4) No user-servicable parts, other than the extruder
