Open Space Frontier Technologies Wants to Make CubeSat to 3D Print in Space

Two North Dakota-based brothers, Michael and Sean Wegerson, and fellow designer Alex Holland recently started a space solutions provider called Open Space Frontier Technologies. Their goal is to produce and launch a low-cost cube satellite equipped with a 3D printer in the payload, which will be used to experiment with 3D printing in space. To create the satellite at a lower price, the team assembled the satellite’s solar panels using a household toaster oven, while the body was created with a milling machine. Their CubeSat will be sent to the ISS at the end of December, and from there, will be launched into orbit come January.
