Can't update Turnigy Fabrikator firmware... what am I doing wrong?

First time visitor here. New Turnigy Fabrikator with Mega 2560 and RAMPS 1.4 not updating as expected. I am new to Arduino.

1) downloaded and installed Arduino 1.6.8
2) unzipped firmware.exe provided by Hobby King
3) double clicked Marlin in unzipped folder
4) Mega 2560 and correct com port are pre-selected by Arduino
5) click "update" and get error messages in the orange area at the bottom of the Arduino screen:

"error compiling for board Arduino Mega 2560"
"compilation terminated"

Something seems to be getting across to the printer as now the loud "chirp" has been replaced with a subtle "click" when I press the action button on the printer.

My Win7 PC is connected to the printer and I can control the steppers and temp via USB using Repetier-Host. Windows device manager shows the printer connected and installed.
