Mumbai Doctors Embrace 3D Printed Surgical Models for Complex Procedures

Doctors in Mumbai are certainly not shy about embracing the use of 3D printed models to help with training for complex surgeries. Recently, Dr. Inderbir Gill, the professor and chair at University of Southern California as well as visiting faculty at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, performed a partial nephrectomy at the Mumbai Hospital, using an exact 3D printed model of both the kidney and its tumor. The surgery was completely successful, as was another recent surgery in Mumbai where doctors used a 3D printed model to aid in a complex heart surgery.
