LLNL Researchers Aim to Accelerate Industrial 3D Printing

Researchers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory certainly realize the value of 3D printing, and they want to pass that on to everyone. This process has its challenges though, which they assess, review, and outline in their latest paper, “Laser Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing of Metals; Physics, Computational, and Materials Challenges.” They understand that change takes time within industries but also see a required need for engineers and those making decisions regarding production to understand the actual processes involved in something like metal 3D printing so that they will understand why it is indeed a valid technology for more than just prototyping.
