Scanning and Printing a 30,000 Year old Figurine

For a new exhibit called 2050 – A Brief History of the Future, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium had a 30,000-year-old figurine called the Venus of Galgenberg recreated using modern 3D scanning and 3D printing technology. They contracted local 3D printing services company Trideus, which captured the Venus using the Fuel3D SCANIFY handheld 3D scanner. The 10 gram, 2.8 inch tall figure was then printed in a sandstone materials using a gypsum-powder based 3D printer.
