Diagnosing Cancer With a 3D Print Tadpole Endoscope

Researchers the Institute of Precision Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong have published a paper in Transactions the journal of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers detailing a device developed to aid in the early detection of cancers in the gastrointestinal tract. The machine, consisting of electronics and a wireless camera encased in a 3D printed shell, uses the mechanics found in tadpoles as the mechanism by which it can be propelled. While there are other capsule endoscopy options on the market, the soft tail propulsion in this model makes it unique.
