Andi - A Low-Tech 3D Printer For Kids

While young students today are constantly surrounded by technology, they may not always understand just how that technology works. Irene Ródenas, a Barcelona-born product designer who worked with mentor Raúl Nieves, in his FabLab called Faboratory and will soon be starting at the Interface Culture Master Program in Austria, decided to use her final degree project to address educational technology to help kids understand the mechanisms behind the functions. She set out to develop Andi, a "low-tech" 3D printer intended to teach children how 3D printers work.
