Replacing Lab Animals With 3D Printed Multi-Material Models

Bart Taylor of NecropSynth has set a high bar for the project: he says nothing less than changing the face of anatomy education in the United States and the world will do. As it stands, the preservatives used to prepare subject animals for lab work are carcinogenic, expensive and require trainees to wear involved and uncomfortable personal protective equipment. Taylor says that, aside from the practical concerns, there are moral and ethical concerns inherent in using living organisms for lab testing.
