Carnegie Mellon Offers 'Additive Manufacturing for Engineers' course

Ever since Carnegie Mellon University began operations as the Carnegie Technical Schools and began granting four-year degrees in 1912, the venerable university has been world-renowned for producing engineers. Now with their Additive Manufacturing for Engineers course of study, students will be taught the business, design, and engineering aspects of 3D printing product development. The students are called on to conceptualize, 3D design, 3D print, and market their own unique product as part of their course work. Carnegie Mellon says they're only one of three academic institutions to offer 3D metal printing capabilities via laser powder bed or electron beam powder bed processes.
