3D Printed Carbon Fiber Remote Control Car

Graphite Additive Manufacturing and Schumacher Racing Cars teamed up to replace 90% of the parts of a remote control car with 3D printed carbon fiber alternatives They printed the parts using an selective laser sintering 3D printer, and the parts are made with carbon fiber reinforced plastics.


As you can see in the images below, the 3D printed version weighs 10% less than the original RC car. The used the same tires ad metal parts as the original car. Remembers the lighter the car the faster it can ride. Both companies hope to use what they learned here in future applications to cut back on weight, while adding strength.
