3D Printed Kidney Stones are Passed on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
A recent study published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association suggests that an unexpectedly effective way to rid yourself of small kidney stones is to ride a rollercoaster. Michigan State professor of urology Dr. David D. Wartinger noted that several patients had reported passing kidney stones after riding Walt Disney World’s roller coaster Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. A replica of a patient's kidney was 3D printed using a clear silicone material and three kidney stones of differing sizes were sealed inside of it. The model was then taken on the roller coaster a total of 20 times and resulted in the stones passing up to 63% of the time.
