Autodesk's ThingMakers App Lets Kids Make 3D Printed Toys

Remember Creepy Crawlers? Those Jello-like, squishy bugs you made by pouring a probably-toxic chemical solution into a mold and then heating it until it solidified? Those critters were actually the products of a toy called ThingMaker, which has been around in various iterations since the 1960s. Mattel has just announced that they are resurrecting the ThingMaker again, this time as a 3D printer for kids. Created in collaboration with Autodesk, the new ThingMaker allows kids to create toys via an app, which is live now and can be used for other 3D printers as well. Rofl. Complete BS. It bears ABSOLUTELY NO RESEMBLANCE to the original ThingMaker nor to any generation of it since. Not even remotely similar in any way except for the name. The only reason they kept the name is strictly for marketing. Period.

And I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the only reason Mattel is involved is they still hold copyright/trademark rights on the ThingMaker name.
