Project Update #28: Hardware Developments #4 and More!

Hey Backers!
Today we’d like to share with you some of the improvements that we’ve made for PP29.
It Ships Light and Smaller
We’ve greatly decreased the weight and size of the package making it much easier to get the Peachy Printer all around the world.
It Assembles Faster
With the implementation of PP29 we were able to delete 2 entire sections from the instructions, as well as many individual steps. This makes the assembly process overall faster and easier than PP28.
It Snap-fits Tighter
Due to the variance in thickness between our sheets of ABS we were having issues with making consistently tight snap-fitting printers. Sometimes we’d cut from a sheet that was slightly thinner, and none of the snap-fit joints would hold tightly, making for a loose and wiggly printer assembly. That was no good!

The ABS Parts Now Come on a Single Plate
This was an important part of reducing our shipping weight and size and also brings other benefits:
- It’s far more organized compared to our previous method (bags of parts)
- We only send about 3 grams of excess plastic! That means nearly all of the unused plastic can be recycled here at Peachy.
- The organized parts are harder to lose during both the shipping and building processes.
- Edge sharing has reduced the time required to cut these parts on the laser cutter.

The Drip Feed has Been Simplified
We’ve reworked the design of the drip feed to eliminate parts and steps during the assembly process. It’s now a simpler system that’s easier and quicker to assemble.
The old drip feed used clamp rings to connect the microphone wire leads to the aluminum tubing in the dripper. We were able to eliminate that process by inserting the wire leads directly into the neon hose before slipping it onto the aluminum tube!
A New and Improved Valve
We’ve replaced the clamp ring valve system with a new and simple valve that is laser cut out of ABS along with many of the other printer parts. Some of the benefits are:
- It utilizes lever action to provide finer adjustment to the drip speed
- It’s more lightweight and cost effective
- It doesn’t wear through the neon tubing like the previous valve
- It’s more resistant to corrosion
- It’s easily modifiable as we produce it on our laser cutter

In addition to all of these changes we’ve had many improvements to the instructions themselves thanks to our 1st tier Beta Testers. A few of the 2nd tier Beta’s have received their printers and some have even assembled them already! And finally, we’ve got a new video to show you!
