Materialise Begins Silk Road Project with Dream Bus, Portable 3D Printing Classroom

Materialise, with help from the Shanghai Adream Charitable Foundation and the 3D printing curriculum developer TEACH, has implemented the Silk Road project, an initiative that will take a retrofitted semi truck dubbed the "Dream Bus" on the road in Western China. The bus, which has been turned into a mobile classroom with desks, chairs and 3D printers, will make a total of 14 stops in six rural, less-developed provinces that have little access to technology. Each stop will last a few days, during which time a Materialise volunteer will teach the local children about 3D printing, including letting them design and print their own 3D models.
