Shapeways Now Has Plated Precious Metal

Shapeways this weekend announced several new Plated materials available for their 3D printed products. The new materials include Precious Plated 18k and 14k Gold, 14k Rose Gold and Rhodium. The materials are extremely affordable, being primarily brass and costing just $22 per cubic centimeter. This is compared to $800 per cubic cm for 18k solid gold. Shapeways hopes that these new plated materials will provide the look of precious metal for a price that's affordable to most consumers.
