Biography:

Hi All,

I am thrilled to be asked to be a Super Moderator. My name is Rob Holmes and I live in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. I'm an avid sailor and sailboat racer and have a degree in Industrial Design but have made most of my living as a professional Commercial Photographer full time from 1986 until 1996. I started out shooting special effects on 8x10 film cameras and then migrated to food, fashion and celebrities. I still shoot but in 1996 I started a 3D Animation and Illustration studio called NVision4D and have done that ever since. I still dabble in Industrial Design stuff too, can't help it as that's what I'm supposed to be doing anyway but life is interesting in how it steers you along. Last year a client asked if I could fabricate something. I looked into making a model or having a CNC shop mill it but then I thought I might as well get into this 3D Printing thing as I'd been watching it. So, I bought an 8" Prusa from Makerfarm. Result: here I am, learning and exploring just like you.

My goal is to master the art of 3D Printing and combine it with electroplating. I have a product that I want to sell that involves both. As of last year I participate in electroplating forums as much as 3D Printing forums so I'm pretty busy. Good thing I type fast or I'd never get any work done.

It's going to be fun collaborating here and I look forward to getting to know and interacting with all of you.
