Chicago, Illinois was home to the world's largest Fab Lab, housed in the Museum of Science and Industry, until the Wanger Family (backers of Chicago's Fab Lab) outdid themselves by funding an even larger Fab Lab in Haifa, Israel. Located at the MadaTech National Museum of Science, Technology, and Space, this Fab Lab is huge and well equipped. It has 27 3D printers, a laser cutter, 2 vinyl cutters, a dedicated workroom, 34 PC workstations, 6 3D scanners, a Shopbot, and a tabletop CNC mill -- to name a few features. The facility is multi-use and it is focused on offering educational programs, open house maker time for the public, workshops geared at all levels, and it is also courting high-tech industry representatives for future projects.
