Dutch company EXO-L has created a process for fabricating special, custom-designed and -fitted ankle supports for people who are susceptible to ankle injuries like sprains and stress fractures. A client’s ankle is scanned and then a 3D model is produced, refined, and 3D printed. The EXO-L or external ligament support, protects the ankle but allows for full mobility. Currently, the ankle support is only available in the Netherlands where local offices provide customers with scanning services. The device currently costs €199, the equivalent of $235 USD.
