Designer Mingyu Jeong has designed a concept machine that converts plastics on beaches into plastic recycling bins. This is an excellent idea for showcasing the educational angles of 3D printing and it has value to show how 3D printing can contribute to recycling efforts, but ultimately, I am sure the designer would agree, our collective human goal is to stop 3D printing the plastic bins too, right? Spring Break, for example, is one time that Dr.Recare could be showcased. Although this is only a concept for now. The machine works by collecting plastics on the beach, melting those plastics down, turning it into 3D printer filament, and then printing out recycling bins.
