The pros at Artec and a team of international researchers have put a new system to the test for 3D scanning of more complex and detailed objects, and it passed with flying colors. Using Artec’s Scanning SDK programming and the Artec Spider in combination with the PR2 robot, researchers found that accuracy and resolution for 3D scanning was superior all around. The robot receives its instructions from the scanner as to areas to scan, stop and photograph, and where to concentrate further when more detail or information is needed.
