Artist Isaac Budmen and 3D designer and teacher Josh Ajima teamed up recently to bring together art, sound, and 3D printing in their 3D Printed Interactive Art Synthesizer. The synthesizer brings together unique, ethereal sounds with colored lights, both of which respond together to physical touch to 3D printed crystal designs. Ajima approached Budmen with the idea after seeing his "Perceptive Transition" art piece on Instagram, and the two collaborated to bring the vision to life. Using MaKey MaKey technology and printed on a MakerBot 3D printer, the synthesizer will be displayed next week at the Virginia Society for Technology in Education conference.
