Yet another 3D printed heart model may have saved a baby's life. This time a 2-week-old baby had congenital heart defects at birth. The defects were quite severe, meaning a complicated surgery was necessary. Because of the intricacies of the heart, and the various holes in it, surgeons would have had to stop the baby's heart in order get an idea to the extent of the defects. Instead, however, they used a 3D model from a scan, to print a replica of the heart in plastic, providing surgeons with a guide. The procedure went well, and the patient will likely live an ordinary life. More details on this incredible story can be found here: http://3dprint.com/17443/3d-printed-heart-baby/
