    Reliable extruder I can print?

Hey guys. A while ago I made a thread about my gear slipping off the extruder motor and a someone helped me solve the problem but it happened twice after that. I was wondering if theres a different, more reliable extruder I can use that uses printed parts? I wanted to use this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:456025/ but I seriously can't find any local shop or even an online store that sells the 65t pulley and the looped belt that's 196mm in length.

    Thanks for any suggestions. Cheers.

I am not of not much help. I wanted to print the same design as you linked with a 65T pulley and belt. However sourcing the parts has been nearly impossible. So I simply designed my own. I have some details in my blog on my own self built extruder. It has about 1kg of plastic though it so far. Its been flawless.

How about clough42's itty bitty extruder? http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:389105

It still uses a printed large gear, but that shouldn't be as problematic for you as the small gear.

I don't know where to get the belt though. I looked everywhere... I have an open belt though, is there any way I could seal 2 ends together?

There are a number of 188mm looped belts for the Itty Bitty extruder available on eBay, some even as a package deal with the 20 tooth gear.

There's a remix of clough42's extruder where the person just leveraged the gears. His instructions page talks about gluing ends of a belt together to form a loop, but it sounds weak to me.

I honestly can not find a 94 tooth closed belt that ships to Australia, I looked on Ebay, Ali Express, searched for shops... got nothing

honestly, if you want to get it done you have to design around what you can get. Sometimes they sell different belts in your country for whatever reason. The only thing that you need to keep in consideration is the 5mm shaft for the motor. Everything else can be adapted. I designed my extruder around a gt2 pulley with glued on 3d printed plastic parts to adapt some random sized gear I had laying around. Besides the plastic used, I have nearly $0 invested. However the next time around I am planing on purchasing parts and building two identical extruders. I plan on going the belt route. However I am going with a 40T pulley and either a 20T or 16T small pulley for the motor. At that point I will purchase whatever sized belt is available or fits my needs. I do not need more than a 3:1 ratio and 2:1 is nearly perfect.

I ended up building a new one. The Aurora prusa/Z605 has the same problem, the bearing has no rails, the filament tends to slip off either side of it. The hobbed gear I had was a 1.75mm/3mm compatible, so the 1.75mm filament never sat right in it to start with , so I made of of infill 3D's geared extruders, and WOW...
The only thing I needed to buy really was the hobbed bolt, with an offset of 25mm, but holy crap, best extruder I've ever made/used.
