Helping The Blind Navigate with 3D Printed Maps

3D printing technology has been helping the visually impaired in several very interesting ways thus far. We have seen 3D printed maps of the Universe taken by the Hubble Telescope, and 3D printed books that were tactile so that the blind could read and even feel the pictures. Now a group in Japan are 3D printing topographic map so that the blind can better find their way around. More details on this story can be found here: http://3dprint.com/16574/japan-3d-printed-maps-blind/

What other ways have you seen in which 3D printing has helped the blind?

Amazing! I will invest in a 3D printer for my son. I also am interested in other ways 3D printing can help blind people. I can't wait till someone can help my son who was born blind from Coloboma ( his eyes are underdeveloped) technology is very exciting.
