In China, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Landscape and Forestry is streamlining the designing of the massive flowerbed display for National Day, using 3D printing to make prototypes for visualizing the blueprints of their parterres, which are enormous ornamental, patterned flowerbeds. With the government imposing strict budgetary limits for the second year in a row, the Tiananmen Square display will still be impressive with 750,000 flowerpots and 120 varieties of flowers. The 3D-printed prototypes will help offset the cost of the displays by cutting the hours of labor and revision time used in previous years when they did not have the luxury of such prototyping.
