Yikes! Just noticed this. Wow, that's some stunning news. Yet it isn't uncommon for the entrepreneur who started a company and then sold it, to eventually step aside as the company grows and becomes all "corporate".

We've conducted a bit of an interview with the new CEO of MakerBot Jenny Lawton. The article can be read here: http://3dprint.com/18506/jenny-lawton-makerbot/

Thanks for getting and publishing that interview.

While on one hand she says that
“Our employees and our customers are always my top priority,” she explained to us. “At MakerBot, we have plans and targets and goals and sprints and so much more… but in the end, our customers and employees are the most important.”
From a customer viewpoint, it certainly does not seem that way, and here's why:

    (1) Change in paradigm to forcing customers to purchase Makercare to get support
    (2) Forcing customers to only use Makerbot PLA on the 5th Gen machines or else void any warrantee
    (3) Designing a machine that can no longer use a variety of materials as the Rep 2 could
    (4) No user-servicable parts, other than the extruder
