Sharebot SnowWhite SLS 3D Printer - Under $20,000

It seems like this month is "Affordable SLS 3D Printer Month". We have seen 3 new sub $20,000 SLS 3D printers announced. Now comes the Sharebot SnowWhite which is listed at under $20,000 and will be available in early 2015. Unlike the other companies though, Sharebot has been in business selling FDM machines for 3+ years now. Read more about this new 3D printer at: http://3dprint.com/13266/sharebot-snowwhite-sls/

    Hi Eddie

Interesting how the prices are melting.

But it's still 20'000 usd. What are the main and clear advantages of this printer compared to say, one of the latest DLP printers recently founded on KickS, like the Titan1, which went out for 2'000 usd. What do you get with the 18'000 usd extra ? You still have a fair bit of post-processing work on SLS. Does it have MUCH better resolution ? speed ?

These printers have many moving parts and failure points. I believe a big part of the extra costs come from the more complex technology. But does it really deliver MUCH more ? I just love the simplicity of DLP.

Gabriele Carloni and Andrea Radaelli say the work they've done on the “Pandino” project to fine-tune their SnowWhite SLS 3D printer is almost complete. They say the sintering process now happens in a “hot” environment which will allow the device to it to use PA12 material and that the printer's build volume has been expanded to 100 x 100 x 130 mm. In conjunction with “a new and better design for the powder distribution system,” the pair say a double piston system will ramp up the printer's speed to less than 10 second per layer.
