Researchers seem to really be keen on this whole 3D printing thing. Orthopaedic Innovation Center Inc. has recently had a patent application published in which they seek to patent the technology behind the 3D printing of implants which include antimicrobial agents and possibly bone growth material. Such a patent would enable a faster safer recovery for patients with an extensive injury or who have undergone surgery.
