PLA in polyeurethane or epoxy - What's it do?

Has anyone here printed something out on an FFF printer, particularly in PLA and then covered it in or dunked it into 2-part epoxy or a polyeurethane mixture? What type of results do you get, and what would be the main purpose for this
I heard another guy talking about this and was curious.

Maybe for waterproofing. I printed a PLA battery cover for a friend's electric bicycle, I painted it with transparent polyurethane plaint to keep rainwater from seeping through; if you have some thin walled object printed in PLA, make it wet on one side and you'll see the water diffuse inside the print.
