Mixing ABS with Acetone - What for?

I was at a 3D printing conference a few weeks ago, and I overheard two guys talking about mixing ABS into Acetone. I couldn't understand the rest of their conversation, but it was in relation to 3D printing? I've heard of vapor baths using Acetone, but for what reason would anyone want to make a ABS/Acetone mixture?

Some like to create an ABS "slurry" to use on their printer beds when printing ABS. It makes the print better adhere to the bed, so there's less curling.

I've had just as much luck with simple hairspray. I just spray down the print bed before starting the print, and have had no problems at all with curling since then.
