    Backer Levels?

Do you know what the backer levels will be yet for AstroPrint? Also, if this is open source, what is it we are paying for? The actual astrobox?

The exact levels are being worked out now but you'll know soon. The project goes live in just over a week.

Basically the software is open source and free. Here are some things that we will be offering backers a different levels:

    - preassembled and preconfigured AstroBox ready to go.
    - lifetime membership to the AstroPrint service for cloud slicing, design storage and organization, remote access to the printer from outside of your network and more...

Hi Rickward. We do have a $35 tier that lets you download the first stable release of the software, but obviously since it's open source that is kindof a donation. We will also offer a downloadable 'image' to put on an sd card for a Raspberry Pi, Beagle Bone Black, or pcDuino. This will make set up significantly easier than trying to configure Linux to install the source code directly.

Our lowest AstroBox tier will be $75 (including shipping), which is literally less than it costs us to make the box! (The pcDuino2 inside the box retails for $65) We will be offering 50 boxes at this price before jumping up to $100, then $125. It will be fully assembled, flashed, and ready to go and will include: pcDuino2, laser cut acrylic case, power supply, microSD card, and the AstroBox software.

So the tier for downloading the first stable release of the software is now only $30. We had a mix up with the shipping setting on Kickstarter. Now the $35 level will get an SD card mailed to them, and they can download the files. The $30 level does not get an SD card from us, but can download the files.

Note, they can still download the SD card 'images,' we are just not mailing them an SD card.
